BANGKOK, Thailand – The State Railway of Thailand has suspended services on parts of the eastern railway line after heavy rain caused flooding of the tracks, affecting eight services. The SRT said today that sections of the eastern line have had to be closed for safety reasons, namely between Ban Kaeng and Sa Kaeo stations, between Aranyaprathet and Watthana Nakhon stations, and between the PTT area and the Bangchak oil refinery line.

The SRT said it is coordinating with relevant agencies and stations while closely monitoring the situation and assessing track conditions. Train services have been suspended or adjusted, covering ordinary trains 283/284 between Bangkok and Juk Samet, ordinary trains 281/282 between Bangkok and Kabin Buri, commuter trains 367/368 and 389/390 between Bangkok and Chachoengsao Junction, ordinary trains 278/279 between Bangkok and Ban Khlong Lek, ordinary trains 279/280 between Bangkok and Ban Khlong Luek, excursion trains 997/998 between Bangkok and Juk Samet, and ordinary trains 275/276 between Bangkok and Ban Khlong Luek. For train 275/276, partial services will continue between Bangkok and Ban Kaeng and between Kabin Buri and Bangkok.

Railway stations will inform passengers of the changes and advise them to make alternative travel arrangements, with passengers able to use the Airport Rail Link or regular bus services where appropriate. The SRT apologised for the inconvenience and urged passengers travelling on the affected routes to monitor announcements and service updates closely, adding that it will urgently inspect the affected sections and provide updates as soon as the tracks can be reopened and normal services restored. Flooding Disrupts Train Services In Northern And Eastern Thailand On 26 September

The State Railway of Thailand announced major service changes and cancellations following heavy rainfall and flooding over railway tracks on 26 September 2026, with the Northern Line closed in part and the Eastern Line also affected as floodwater continues to disrupt rail travel across several provinces.

Flooding has closed part of the main Northern Line in Nakhon Sawan province between Nong Pho and Noen Makok stations, a key stretch of the railway between Bangkok and northern Thailand that affects travel towards destinations including Phitsanulok, Den Chai, Lampang and Chiang Mai. Some passengers on trains already en route are being transferred by road around the flooded section, while the SRT has cancelled nine long-distance trains from their starting stations, comprising the overnight trains between Bangkok and Chiang Mai in both directions together with services between Bangkok and Den Chai. The cancellations will remain in place until further notice, and passengers holding tickets for cancelled trains can receive a full refund at any SRT station nationwide.

Flooding has also closed sections of the Eastern Line in Sa Kaeo province, affecting trains towards Aranyaprathet and the Cambodian border, with several services from Bangkok towards Chachoengsao, Kabin Buri, Ban Klong Luk and Chuk Samet cancelled or shortened.
